You and Me

What can I tell you about us? We are best friends. We are in love. And we love to be together.

10 years together. 4 years married. A lifetime ahead to experience each chapter in our story.

Together, we have experienced fellowship and loneliness (Gaining community and then moving away). Stability and change (what we thought life would bring). Learning and forgetting (School and Jobs). Joy and Pain (Illness and recovery). Familiarity and Newness (who we are and world we live in).

What makes us who we are? Family. Friends. Relationships. Experiences. And all these things reflect something God has for us to learn and grow. Every opportunity and each a new day is a gift and we do our best to make each moment count.

Through everything, we are us. Changing yes....growing slowly, but always together.

A HUGE thank you so our wonderful friends Nate and Laura for hanging out with us this day and for taking these amazing photos of us! You are amazing.

61 Love

Meet my grandparents. They have been married for 61 years. My husband and I spent a very special day with them at their home one day just spending time with them, listening to their life story, and capturing their personalities on camera. They have 10 children, a WHOLE bunch of grand-kids (I am one of them) and many great-grand-kids. Allow me to tell you a little bit about them from my perspective.
Meet Grandpa. His smile is fantastic. His laugh....ahh, love it! He is soft spoken and a man of few words. But when he starts to speak about things he is passionate about, he gets so excited!
He is a man of many hobbies. Many of which the photos I did not include on the blog. But fishing is one of them. Summer or Winter, he is always ready to go fishing. My memories of "jiggle-sticks" and learning to fish with grandpa are some of my favorite. He also enjoys hunting with his kids and grandchildren.
My grandparents live on a farm. That is the phrase we say... "Let's go to the farm!" (which really means we're going to see grandma and grandpa). They still have 3 tractors and many of the farm equipment that they used for their acres of fields and several barns.
Wind-Up toys. "They make any baby smile and laugh" says my grandpa which is why he loves them. He has a HUGE collection....many of which has had for over 20 years and they still come out when the little kids come over.

A personal note, I have great memories playing cribbage with grandpa. I don't think I've ever won, but I try!
Now....meet my grandma! She is amazing. I have no idea how she does it all, but she does. She loves on us, always giving us a card and a call on our birthday and having more than enough food whenever we come to visit!

She, like her husband, has lived and worked on a farm during her entire life and she has so many stories to tell of those adventures. Going fishing for food for dinner each night, remembering the era of the Great Depression, learning to do it yourself if you needed something done....instead of buying it.
She has a wonderful garden and like any woman, loves to look at fun stores to expand her garden art collection.
Something unique about my grandma is that she is an AMAZING woodworker. She has built everything from little toys to chairs to full sized home additions! And what is even more amazing, is that she is self-taught. When I asked her about it, she said she learned because she needed to. It was as simple as that.

Of course most of my memories of grandma were her behind the camera. Capturing the memories of all us kids and grand-kids as we came to visit. I'm so excited I can finally be on the other end of that story.
As a couple, they are some of the most beautiful people I have met.

Love you both so much.

J and C {couple}

I had so much fun during this photo session with this gorgeous couple. They wanted to celebrate their marriage and their life together in a special session and as a good friend, I of course raised my hand to volunteer for the role as the photographer.

We went to the Illinois State Beach Park for the photo session and it was perfect! It was just an hour before a thunderstorm so it was cool with a nice breeze and the cloud cover provided some nice shade from the summer sun.

They are so great together. They are not only joined by marriage, but they are joined by a wonderful friendship to each other. They are very intentional about taking time to slow down life and take time for each other.

I love you guys and thank you so much for allowing me to capture this moment in your lives! Congrats on your years of marriage and I pray for many more blessings on you both.
